Lantau has a longer and richer history than Hong Kong island or even the New Territories.

Here’s a story I wrote on Lantau’s colourful past, covering the origin of its name, pirate Cheung Po Tsai, the mystery of the Song boy emperors and a forgotten World War II massacre: Lantau History.
