Another caravan park is seeking planning permission – this time one that is already in operation – and another last-minute deadline for public responses: midnight tonight.
This caravan park on the old Palm Beach site at Cheung Sha has been in business since late 2016, but is only now seeking Town Planning Board approval for the ‘temporary’ land use and the construction of ‘temporary’ sewerage facilities.
Living Islands Movement and several other conservation groups point out that the site and adjacent areas include some ecologically sensitive Coastal Protection Area land (see below). They suggest that instead of processing ad hoc applications for ‘temporary’ land use from landowners we need a set of planning guidelines for caravan parks.
Additionally it’s clearly an abuse of process to approve land use retrospectively.
